John boyd dunlop was a scottish inventor who changed the world with a simple yet powerful idea he is best known for inventing the first practical pneumatic or air filled tyre which became a turning point in transportation history

 

In the late 1800s bicycles were becoming popular but the ride was uncomfortable due to solid rubber tyres In 1887 J B dunlop created an air filled tyre for his sons tricycle using a rubber hose and air pump this invention made the ride smoother and faster

 

He patented his design in 1888 and it quickly gained attention especially after cyclists started winning races with dunlops tyres the success of these air filled tyres proved they were better than solid rubber ones and soon car manufacturers also adopted the idea

 

This invention led to the foundation of the Dunlop Rubber Company which grew into a global brand supplying tyres for bicycles motorcycles cars and airplanes

 

Dunlops invention did not just improve comfort it helped shape the future of travel and industry It made vehicles more efficient safer and faster
