🧠 Just Three Questions… But They Might Mess With Your Head
So the other day, I came across this tiny test. Just three questions. That’s it.
And guess what? I got one of them wrong. On the first try.
And I’m usually the “logical friend” in the group. Yeah… awkward.
Anyway, I figured I’d share it here and see if it trips you up too.
No pressure. Just a bit of brain teasing fun. Ready?

Question num 1
A bat and a ball cost $1.10 altogether
The bat costs exactly $1 more than the ball
How much is the ball
Sounds easy right? Hold onto that thought.

🔧 Question 2:
Five machines make five things in five minutes.
Now imagine hundred machines
How long will it take them to make hundred of those things
Take your time. But don’t overthink it. Or do. It’s your call.

🌿 Question 3:
There’s a patch of lily pads on a lake.
Every day, the patch doubles in size.
If it takes 48 days to fully cover the lake,
when was it only half-covered?
This one gets people. Almost every time.

Alright. Pens down. Or just scroll a little.

✍️ Answers (and the parts where people usually mess up):
1. The ball is 5 cents.
Most folks say 10 cents right off the bat (no pun intended).
But then the bat would be $1.10, and that totals $1.20 — too much.
So: ball = $0.05, bat = $1.05. Now it adds up: $1.10.
2. Still just 5 minutes
If five machines can do five jobs in five minutes then each machine does 1 job in that time.
So 100 machines all working at once Still 5 minutes Just more hands on deck.
3. Day 47.
It doubles every day. So the lake is fully covered one Day 48…
That means it was half-covered the day before. Day 47.
