Australia vs South Africa in the ICC Champions trophy in Rawalpindi earlier this year

The game was to be held on 25 February 2025 in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, rain persistently flooded the field and no ball could be bowled at all so umpires had to call off the match altogether

What exactly happened That morning rain began and continued throughout the day Light rain created pools of water on the pitch covers and outfield The ground staff simply could not clear the water fast enough Despite waiting for hours the match could not start and the officials made the call to abandon it 

Because of the washout both teams received one point each in the group standings South Africa remained on top of Group B on net run rate and Australia stayed second Both teams had three points and still had a strong chance to qualify for the semi finals
