How I Made $1K a Month With Resin Art and Small Business Tips
How I Made $1K a Month With Resin
I never thought playing with resin could actually become a side hustle, let alone bring in over $1,000 a month. But here I am, sharing my story because I know someone else out there might be looking for a real way to make extra income doing something they actually enjoy.
Where It All Started month
I started messing around with resin during the lockdown. At first, it was just a way to kill time and make cute things for myself โ like coasters, bookmarks, and jewelry trays. The first few pieces were honestly awful. Bubbles everywhere, colors off, mold issues… you name it.
But I kept going month
I watched tutorials on YouTube and followed a bunch of creators on Instagram and TikTok. Slowly, my technique improved. I invested in better resin (trust me, it matters), and got serious about safety gear too. No joke โ those fumes are real.
First Sale and What Clicked
One day I posted a resin phone grip on my personal Instagram just for fun. A friend messaged me asking if she could buy it. I laughed it off at first, but then it hit me: I could actually sell this stuff.
I quickly opened an Etsy shop,
took a few photos with my phone (not great ones, but they worked), and listed five items. To my surprise, I made my first sale that week.
Scaling to $1K per Month
Hereโs how I turned that small win into a steady $1,000 a month:
1. Niche Down
At first, I made everything: trays, earrings, keychains, whatever came to mind. But I noticed my floral coasters were getting the most attention. I focused on those, creating sets and even offering personalized options with names or initials.
2. Batch month Production
Instead of making one item at a time, I started batching my work. Iโd spend weekends mixing and pouring, and then dedicate one day to demolding, sanding, and packaging. This saved time and helped me keep up with orders.
3. Better Product Photos
Once I upgraded to natural lighting and used a basic light box, my Etsy traffic improved dramatically. I also added lifestyle shots to help people visualize how the products would look in their home.
4. Social Media month Marketing
Instagram Reels and TikTok helped me build a small following. Behind-the-scenes videos, resin fails, and satisfying unmolding clips always performed well. I linked my Etsy in my bio and occasionally did giveaways to boost engagement.
5. Pricing month Smart
I initially underpriced my work because I was afraid people wouldnโt pay. But once I added up the cost of materials, time, and packaging, I realized I needed to raise my prices to be sustainable. People still bought โ and now I was making a profit.
6. Internal and monthlyย Local Collaborations
I even collaborated with a local flower shop who provided me with dried petals. This partnership gave me a shoutout on their Instagram and introduced me to new customers.
What Youโll Need to Start
Hereโs a quick starter checklist if youโre thinking of trying this yourself:

Final Thoughts
Iโm not saying resin art will make you rich overnight, but if you love creating and are willing to put in the work, it can definitely become a solid side hustle. I still work a regular job, but resin has paid for vacations, helped with bills, and honestly boosted my confidence.
If you’re on the fence about starting,
just go for it. Your first pieces wonโt be perfect โ but neither were mine. Consistency and curiosity go a long way.
