Early Life and Academic Roots

Jaswinder  was born on 4 May 1960 in Ludhiana Punjab and earned both a BSc and MSc from Punjab Agricultural University followed by a PhD in Extension Education at CCS University Meerut .

Before becoming a household

name in comedy he served as a Professor and Head of the Department of Extension Education at PAU until his retirement in 2020 .

Comedy Career and Cultural Impact

Starting in 1988 with the audio‑video bhalla 

satire series Chhankata brought to life beloved characters like Chacha Chatar Singh, Bhana, and JB that resonated deeply with Punjabi audiences . His comic touch was infused with social awareness—tackling issues like female foeticide and unemployment through wit .

Film Achievements Bhalla

transitioned into cinema with films like Dulla Bhatti and Mahaul Theek Hai, and later became known for his roles in hits such as Carry On Jatta, Jatt & Juliet, Mahaul Theek Hai, Power Cut, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya, and more . His role as Advocate Dhillon in the Carry On Jatta series became iconic . His final film appearance was in Shinda Shinda No Papa released in 2024 .

Personal Life He married Parmdeep Bhalla,

a fine arts teacher. The couple had two children—son Pukhraj , an actor himself, and daughter Ashpreet Kaur, who is settled in Norway .

Passing and Legacy bhalla 

On 22 August 2025,  passed away at age 65—he had suffered a brain stroke on 20 August and was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Mohali before his demise early on the morning of 22 August . His cremation was held on 23 August 2025 at Balongi cremation ground in Mohali .
