Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has embarked on a significant expansion of its flight network in 2025, introducing six new routes that enhance both international and domestic connectivity. This strategic move aims to strengthen PIA’s presence in key markets, particularly the Middle East, and improve travel options for passengers across Pakistan.

✈️ New International Routes

PIA’s international expansion focuses on connecting Pakistani cities with major destinations in the Gulf region:

1. Sialkot – Bahrain: Twice-weekly flights commenced on January 20, catering to the significant Pakistani expatriate community in Bahrain.

2. Faisalabad – Jeddah: A weekly service launched on January 20, facilitating travel for pilgrims and workers heading to Saudi Arabia.

3. Sialkot – Doha: Weekly flights began on January 21, enhancing access to Qatar for both business and leisure travelers.

4. Lahore – Dammam: Twice-weekly flights started on January 22, serving the Pakistani workforce in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

🏠 New Domestic Route

To bolster domestic connectivity, PIA introduced:

Karachi – Peshawar: A weekly flight launched on January 25, improving access between southern and northern regions of Pakistan.

🛫 Fleet Enhancements

To support these new routes, PIA has reactivated several aircraft, including a Boeing 777, an Airbus A320, and an ATR. This brings the operational fleet to 19 aircraft, with plans to increase to 24 within six months.

🌍 Resumption of European Flights

In addition to new routes, PIA resumed flights to Europe after a 4.5-year hiatus. Twice-weekly flights between Islamabad and Paris began on January 10, following the lifting of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s ban.

📈 Strategic Implications

These developments signify PIA’s commitment to expanding its global footprint and enhancing service offerings. By targeting high-demand routes and restoring confidence in international operations, PIA aims to reclaim its position as a leading carrier in the region.
