Why Brendan Taylor was banned

 

The occurrence of a row of suspicious incidents was the reason why Brendan Taylor was banned.

 

Taylor had gone to India in October 2019 as a guest of a businessman under the pretence of talking about a potential T20 league venture and sponsorship, whilst undergoing unpaid salary pressure.He was then cornered—shown a video of himself using cocaine—and pressured to assist in spot-fixing. He accepted a US $15 000 deposit, although he never actually carried out any fixing .

 

Taylor delayed notifying the ICC of the incident for about four months. He also tested positive for cocaine, albeit he later described this as part of a broader battle with substance abuse .

 

As a result, in January 2022 the ICC imposed a multi-year ban on Taylor for breaching both the Anti-Corruption and Anti-Doping Codes .

 

 

Brendan Taylor is one of Zimbabwe’s finest batsmen and former captain he found himself at the centre of controversy after a trip to India in twenty nineteen during a time when players had not been paid for months while there he was coerced into a spot fixing scenario shown a video of himself taking cocaine and handed a deposit despite never fixing a match he failed to report the approach promptly and later tested positive for cocaine all leading to an ICC ban in January twenty twenty two that would keep him out of international cricket for several years
